A Transliteration of a Text Found in the Ruins of an Aten Temple
As Translated by the Gitany Rianna Cuvier

This manuscript contains a Gitany woman's notes on inscriptions found in a ruined Aten temple, including a sizeable quantity of interpretation on what the symbols mean.

If delivered to the Church, this tome is worth **** Prestige Points.

The bones of the earth may be raised, and the earth's energy channeled to form barriers of wind and stone. Eight characters form the foundation of this power, functioning in the stead of the characters of the Cosmos to allow intercession with Mourn itself. These characters are:

(a), which forms a primary bond with (f), a secondary bond to (b) and (h), a tertiary bond to (d), and a quaternary bond to (h) and (b)

(b), which forms a primary bond with (e), a secondary bond to (h) and (a), a tertiary bond to (g), and a quaternary bond to (a) and (c)

(c), which forms a primary bond with (h), a secondary bond to (d) and (f), a tertiary bond to (f), and a quaternary bond to (b) and (d)

(d), which forms a primary bond with (g), a secondary bond to (e) and (c), a tertiary bond to (a), and a quaternary bond to (c) and (e)

(e), which forms a primary bond with (b), a secondary bond to (g) and (d), a tertiary bond to (h), and a quaternary bond to (d) and (f)

(f), which forms a primary bond with (a), a secondary bond to (g) and (c), a tertiary bond to (c), and a quaternary bond to (e) and (g)

(g), which forms a primary bond with (d), a secondary bond to (e) and (f), a tertiary bond to (b), and a quaternary bond to (f) and (h)

(h), which forms a primary bond with (c), a secondary bond to (a) and (b), a tertiary bond to (e), and a quaternary bond to (a) and (g)

To raise a stone, partake of the flame powder and inscribe a fragment of Mourn's bones with the character to be called upon. Place the stone upon the earth and use a geomancer's trance to connect it to the world's spirit. The stone will call to its ilk, raising a pillar to the sky.

Each stone raised will form a node of power, and will connect to the other nodes by forming bonds. To trace the lines of force created by a ring of stones of power, follow these rules when diagramming the circle.

* First, connect all primary bonds. Primary bonds may cross each other.

* Second, connect all primary bonds. Each node with two primary bonds must have a second bond connecting it to another node. It will form one secondary bond with the nearest appropriate node, favoring nodes with two primary bonds in the case of equidistant nodes. Secondary bonds may not cross primary bonds. (*)

* Thirdly, connect all tertiary bonds for nodes with no secondary bonds. Tertiary bonds may cross other bonds, but a tertiary bond will never form off a node with a secondary bond.

* Finally, connect all quaternary bonds for nodes with no secondary bonds. Quaternary bonds may not cross other bonds, and a quaternary bond will never form off a node with a secondary bond.

Once formed, all bonds form a wall of force which cannot be crossed. It is dangerous to create a circle where any of the following is present: more than two primary bonds to a node; more than one secondary bond to a node; more than two tertiary bonds to a node; forcing a secondary bond to cross a primary bond. In any of these cases, the circle will destabilize and destroy itself as well as anything within its boundaries.

As any geomancer can see, the most perfect barrier is formed of a ring of eight stones, inscribed with the characters on the order above in a circular fashion. Together, the eight will form a grid of energy, sealing away the contents forever. Many circles can be opened by the addition of a new stone outside (or, sometimes, inside the ring); the Perfect Circle, however, can only be disrupted by forcing it to destroy what it contains.

(*) Judging from the perfect circle, and the circle used at Sirocco, secondary bonds only form off of nodes that have two primary bonds, although the node one connects to may have fewer. - Komaru Takanobu, 226
