The Journal of Amethyst, Duke of Touraine
Based on this text, Amethyst appears to have been the Duke of Touraine around the time of Paraceln's Dream. As such, he was likely Verity Touraine's grandfather or great-grandfather. His journal, when legible, is friendly and eminently readable. However, it is also prone to lapsing into passages of apparent gibberish.

"When the sea's daughter bears a child by the earth's son, the Komaru will fall."
This is the central prophecy of the Touraine family, and the riddle to which I have devoted my life's study.
...
"The sea's daughter" refers to the Mer, the creature of the sea that predate humanity. The Mer are the Folk of the Sea. I have seen several in my time here, and they are made of pure water below the waist and have the torsos of the most beautiful humans I have ever seen. I found myself forced to avert my eyes, lest their beauty strike me blind. Of course, every child knows that the Mer keep the ocean free of humanity, sinking ships and producing humanity's strong aversion to open water.
I believe that "The earth's son" refers to any human, as the ancients show a strong tendency to use gendered words for their poetical benefit rather than any actual value.
Thus, it is my opinion that when a Mer bears the child of a mortal, the Komaru will lose their crown.

Onyx felt that the prophecy was something to be avoided, but I believe it is a puzzle we need to solve. In the palace, the King grows worse every day. His madness consumes him, and it is said that the halls of the Royal Court run with blood. The Royal Council struggles to take action, but is too divided by the schemes of its own members. The art is tearing us to pieces. What are we fighting for?

There are two powers of the path of the void that allow one to learn about the sea-children. They are known as the power to Sense the Mer and the power to Call the Sea-Child. Both are immensely dangerous to use. Their understanding can be gained like any other power, if the initiate is properly attuned.

I understand now. I understand too much. I know what Blaise Komaru seeks from the breath of children.
Will I too become a monster for the chance at immortality?

I entertained another Thalassa no Miko this evening. She was a lively girl who had grown up by the coast in the Yuasa territories. My hope is that I can convince her to give up her status, but if I must consign her to the waves, I will do so.
